A few tidbits

Wow it has been awhile since I wrote on my blog! Life goes by so quickly doesn't it?!
Today I wanted to share two cute things I have made in the past few weeks :)

First up is this little bee potholder. As soon as I saw the Pretty Little Potholder tutorial by Amy of Nana Company, I knew I had to make it! It was so fun to make, I really enjoyed the process.

I loooove this fabric. The main is Briar Rose by Heather Ross and the print behind it is Honey by Kate Spain. The binding is just from Spotlight. It's a lovely yellow, I wish I had of bought more while they were still stocking it :(

Next up is a little drawstring bag I made just today. The tutorial is by Jeni Baker from In Color Order. It's fully lined and very simple to make. The boxed corners were a new technique for me, as well the free motion machine embroidery. The embroidery was sooo much easier than I was expecting! I really love the finished item. I will be using it to protect my books when I take one in a handbag with me. Some sort of book protection is a must for me, my handbag can be a nightmare junkyard at times haha!

The fabrics in this one are Antique Flower in Pastel by Lecien and a pale blue homespun from Spotlight.

Anyway, that is all I have for today. I will try to start posting more regularly :)

Lecien Baby Quilt

I finally cut into the rest of my stash of Lecien Antique Flower in Pastel. Ahh it was so hard to use it - thankfully, I still have some leftover :)

While it was difficult to cut into, I think this fabric looks so nice on a quilt when it's literally all quilted up and puckery. It so sweet and pretty, perfect for a baby girl.

I love it all folded up like this - so pretty!

 Look at those stunning colours.
Ahh, I'm in love with it. It's going to be mighty hard to let it go. But let it go I must eventually. Because it is up for sale! Yep I finally decided to open a shop :). If anyone is interested click here for my Etsy shop and here for my Facebook page :)

Until next time,

Ruffled Bloomers

Here are some pictures of the ruffled nappy covers/bloomers I've been making the past 2 days. I'm quite proud of them. I attempted to make one when I bought the pattern last year - and swore I'd never make one again. I found it so difficult, and it was very unprofessional looking as I didn't have an overlocker at time and my machine was a dodgy cheap one...

Anyway, I'm glad I tried to make one again. They turned out sooo cute. And very neat and professional looking. My sewing technique and attention to quality and detail has definitely improved! I think I will start selling these when I eventually get a little online shop going :)

 Strawberries & Gingham

Aqua Roses & Red Polka Dots

Daisy Cottage

Aren't they adorable?! I made another one today as well. The fabric is Riley Blake's Promenade and it has pale purple pompom trim across the top ruffle. I didn't get a picture, but it is probably the cutest one yet!

I love these little ruffled bloomers on a cute baby tooshie. They're so perfect for the Australian summer, where it can get hot enough for a baby to wear only a nappy all day. These covers pretty up a plain nappy bum, and also look adorable under little short dresses. I'm planning to make some short peasant style dresses to go with these as a set.

Anyway, until next time...

Welcome to my blog!

Hi, my name is Taylor. Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog. I am so excited about getting started. It's something I have wanted to do for awhile now.

A little bit about me. I am nearly 22 years old. I've lived in Newcastle, NSW my whole life. I live with my parter of five years and our two cats Jasper and Tilly. I guess I'm not your average 22 year old. I like to sew, knit, crochet and generally make things in my spare time, rather than going out and partying like most other girls my age. I'd much rather create and spend time with my family and my bestfriend.

This blog will be about my crafty makes, with maybe some cooking and gardening thrown in as well. I go op-shopping alot, so I will put photos on here of the treasures I come across. I will also have a few posts on the things I have made in the past year or so. To be honest, I am not too sure exactly how this blog will evolve. But I am happy about that.

Anyway, I will leave you with a photo of my fabric haul from my shopping adventures today. I can't wait to show you all what I will make with it :)
